Cindy JohnstonCindy believes that every individual, with the right education and tools, can make a positive impact in their own health and wellness. “With knowledge and support, it is possible to turn unhealthy habits into healthy habits.” Cindy finds rewards in her job by helping people feel better about themselves, and reducing the incidence of obesity, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and cancer through education.

Becky FriedersBecky believes that education is the key to people changing their health behaviors. “When you empower people to make healthy choices you will be surprised how many are really willing!” Her favorite moments come when she sees that “ah-ha” look in class participants’ eyes, and she realizes they have a complete understanding of what she is teaching.

Lisseth sees health education as a resource for people to take proactive steps toward improving their health and changing their lifestyle. “These changes can have a domino effect and initiate health-related changes in the people around them.” Lisseth’s favorite part of working in community health education is the positive outcomes people have, such as weight loss or lower cholesterol levels.
