“I was blessed and fortunate enough to deliver my own children, now I’d love to try to help a couple who can’t carry a baby,” Sarah, a 34-year-old mother of three, told Dr. Ann West after the delivery of her third baby. She expressed interest in being a gestational carrier, or surrogate mother, for a childless couple. Dr. West told her that she was healthy and if that was what she was interested in doing, she could see no reason not to pursue it.

When Sarah came in the next time to see Dr. West some months later, she was pregnant with another couple’s baby. The other family was from the northern suburbs, but Sarah wanted to deliver the baby with Dr. West at Valley West Community Hospital. In subsequent visits, Sarah invited the couple out to meet Dr. West and tour the Maternity Suites at Valley West. Not only did they have total confidence in Dr. West, they were incredibly impressed by Valley West, comparing the facility to the best Chicago has to offer.

After the delivery in August of 2008, both families were thrilled with their birth experience. Since they were so happy with the way everything went, they have decided to have another baby in the same way. The new baby is due in May 2010, and will also be delivered at Valley West.
