We can perform a hysterectomy
with three, one centimeter
incisions and deliver a baby in
crisis in a matter of minutes. We
can use portable ultrasound in
the emergency room to quickly
detect a serious condition, such
as an ovarian cyst or ectopic
pregnancy and provide treatment
or surgical intervention right away.

We are the OB/GYN’s
at Valley West Community Hospital.

Laparoscopic Hysterectomy
Dr. Brett J. Cassidy

Knowing she had a problem, Martha, age 43, went to see Dr. Cassidy. Her menstrual periods were so heavy and unpredictable that she would wear a super absorbent pad every day. Other treatments had failed to resolve her problem. Though she knew a hysterectomy was her only option, she just couldn’t afford to take the six weeks recovery time off of work following the surgery.

Dr. Cassidy told Martha about the option of a laparoscopic hysterectomy. For this procedure, only three small (1 cm) incisions would be made and she could have the choice of going home the same day or the following morning. She was excited to learn about this option and agreed to have her surgery at Valley West the following week.

When Dr. Cassidy went to see her the day after her surgery, Martha was ready to go home and get back to work. Two days later she was working half days and by the end of the week she was working her full schedule.

Thanks to Dr. Cassidy, Martha is now free from the incapacitating periods she had been experiencing.
